Sarracenia Purpurea Venosa also known as "The Southern Pitcher Plant" or "The Purple Pitcher Plant" is an easy growing form of Sarracenia with low forming pitchers. It grows natively in the Southeastern United States. The pitchers it produces can last for years and as they mature turn a dark red/purple. Additionally, if you get up close, you can see some of the mesmerizing tactics that the Sarracenia uses to keep its prey inside -- its downward pointing hairs.
In terms of dormancy, this Sarracenia will typically keep many of its pitchers throughout the winter months and also manages to need a shorter dormancy period. Grows great in full sun and warmer climates.
These come pre-potted with sphagnum moss in a 3.5" pot.

I liked the protective packaging and that it came safe and snug. The only thing that I disliked later on was the very tightly packed spahgnum moss that it was in. I noticed that it was starting to get overwatered and that it was getting affected. It was fine though because I just removed some and mixed it with perlite to improve aeration. Overal I love te look and health of the plant. Will consider buying again from this store.
Pot used in top and bottom dor shipping. Nothing was damaged and therewas still plenty of moisture for the plant. It arrived faster than any other plant I have ever paid for. I used regular ground shipping too! I will be buying more plants
Beautiful plants in a timely fashion, etc., etc., but, MAN, that packaging was SPOT ON!! Forgive the yelling and exclamations, but seriously, some of the most impressive packaging ever. Will forever consider your site. Thanks.
